Shape Of Becoming: Rimzim Dadu Refines Her Experimental Edge For SS26

For years, Rimzim Dadu has built her world around materials that resist expectation. Metal becomes fluid, cords transform into texture, and surfaces that appear industrial begin to move with softness across the body. Over the years, she has built a design language that feels deeply tied to construction and textile experimentation, and with Shape of Becoming, that language moves into a stronger ready-to-wear space without losing what makes the brand distinct in the first place.

The Spring Summer 2026 collection focuses on evolution, both in concept and in construction. Dadu looks at how forms grow through repetition and layering, drawing from natural systems and patterns where structure develops gradually over time. That idea runs through the collection in subtle ways. Some pieces begin with sharper, sculptural shapes before opening into softer movement. Others rely on texture and surface to create depth rather than volume.

“The starting point was really the idea of evolution and transformation,” says Dadu. “How something grows from a singular form into something layered, complex, and constantly changing.”

What makes the collection feel particularly personal is the way it revisits some of the brand’s earlier material explorations. This season sees the return of the chiffon cord technique first introduced by the label in 2009, a process that has remained closely associated with the Rimzim Dadu identity over the years. The process remains intensely physical. Chiffon is torn into strips, twisted into cords, and rebuilt into an entirely new textile with ripple-like movement and sculptural density.

“Revisiting our signature chiffon cord technique felt especially meaningful because it’s such an important part of the brand’s identity,” she says.

That process becomes one of the strongest visual elements in the collection. Alongside are the metal elements and engineered materials that have long been part of Dadu’s work. What changes this season is the ease with which these are constructed within the garments. The pieces feel lighter, unlike the couture, and the movement feels more natural. Even the more structured looks avoid feeling rigid.

“I love structure because it gives garments strength and identity, but movement is what makes them feel alive,” Dadu explains. “A lot of the movement in this collection comes organically from the construction itself.”

That balance becomes important because Shape of Becoming marks a significant moment for the label’s pret chapter. Ready-to-wear often demands a different rhythm from couture and experimental fashion, but the collection never feels like a softened version of the brand. Instead, it feels like Dadu refining her ideas into silhouettes that can move more easily through everyday dressing. Pret becomes an expansion of the brand’s design philosophy rather than a simplified adaptation of it.

“I think this collection feels more refined and emotionally layered,” Dadu explains. “The experimentation with material is still very much at the heart of the brand, but translating that into ready-to-wear pushed us to think more about instinctive wearability and ease.”

One of the standout pieces in the collection is the same white chiffon cord ripple texture shirt, which Dadu describes as especially meaningful to her. The garment captures the tension that runs through much of the collection: structure alongside fluidity and surface with movement.

“When I first saw the piece come alive during the fitting, it felt like a perfect reflection of the collection’s spirit,” says Dadu. “Strength, movement, transformation, and fluidity existing together.”

With Shape of Becoming, Rimzim Dadu continues to push her material-driven approach forward while making space for a more wearable direction. The collection carries forward the label’s fascination with construction and innovation while opening the door to a more wearable rhythm, something sharper and more instinctive for today.
