Dua Lipa’s Feathered Chanel Couture Wedding Dress Featured A 2-Metre Train: All The Details

There has been much speculation over who might have designed Dua Lipa’s wedding dress and now, finally, we have our answer. The bride walked down the aisle wearing Chanel – and not just any Chanel; the first Chanel Haute Couture wedding dress designed by Matthieu Blazy for a friend of the house.

The gown, which was handcrafted in the ateliers at 31 Rue Cambon in Paris, was an intricate collaboration courtesy of several of Chanel’s maisons d’art. It was hand-embroidered with 480,000 beads by Atelier Montex and featured trompe l’oeil jewels requiring 1,155 hours of needlework by Lesage.

The bespoke dress culminated in a two-metre train, which was delicately underlined with 25,000 feathers by Lemarié. The bride also wore a dramatic six-metre tulle veil hand-embroidered with beads, feathers and hand-cut organza appliqués. The finishing touch? White satin pumps, custom-made by Massaro. In a statement, Chanel said it was “honoured to have dressed her for this very special day”.

The groom, actor Callum Turner, also wore a custom look for the occasion – a Louis Vuitton suit designed by Pharrell Williams, which featured a hand-crafted peony on the lapel.

Lipa has long enjoyed a close relationship with Chanel, regularly seen wearing Blazy’s designs on the red carpet and sitting front row at his shows. The French fashion house also designed a custom stage look for the singer’s Radical Optimism tour last year.

Lipa and her new husband first said their vows in London on 31 May. They held an intimate ceremony at the Old Marylebone Town Hall, for which she wore an elegant Schiaparelli skirt suit.
One week later, the couple flew out to Sicily for a bigger celebration with family and friends. For the welcome party, the bride was seen wearing a backless dress by Bottega Veneta with a playful feather skirt – but the main ceremony gown has been kept firmly under wraps until now.
Now that the cat is firmly out of the bag, the singer wasted no time in sharing a series of exclusive new wedding photographs – captured by David Sims – on her Instagram account. Within minutes, the post had received congratulatory messages from the likes of Donatella Versace and Gracie Abrams.
